There’s no place like home

Earning a berth in the state football playoffs is expected around these parts, and it has been for Ennis head coach Jack Alvarez. His Lions have punched their post-season ticket in six consecutive years. Fifteen miles north the team in green made it for the first time in four years under their much-hyped head coach, albeit as a fourth place finisher. They meet Ft. Worth Everman on Friday at Midlothian
ISD Stadium. That is a favorable location for the Tribe. Ferris has often qualified, but has exited in the first round in their last six trips to the bi-district round. Brandon Layne, the former Ennis offensive coordinator, had a shot at the district title on Friday, but were bested by Wills Point.
