Twelve qualify for track championships in Humble

Ennis has qualified seven for the Region III Track & Field meet this week, including (front, left to right) Celina Perez, Paige Lemonia, Alison Andrade and Kyndal Leaks, (back row) Katherine Stickly, Tyquanna Ross, and L’Derria Myers. Lonnie Redning and Stephen Marrow, who are the girls and boys head coaches, will lead delegations of seven and five, respectively, to Turner Stadium, about 20 miles northeast of Houston. The representatives for the Lady Lions are two seniors, Katherine Stuckly and Alison Andrade, Tyquanna Ross, a junior, a trio of sophomores in Paige Lemonia, Lyndal Leaks and L’Derria Myers and freshman Celina Perez. Stuckly will compete in multiple categories, the 100 meter hurdles and the high jump. She looks to top her personal best (5’9”) in the high jump and return to state. Ross is part of the 4×1 100 meter relay of Perez, Lemonia and Myers, while also contending in the triple jump. Lemonia (lah-MOHN-yay), who placed in four events at the area meet, prominently as a long jumper, is a relay specialist. Leaks and Andrade are sprinters.
