Waxahachie girls coach moves to 500 in the win column
Coaches who rack up 500 wins are few and far between. One of the best, Lesli Priebe, reached the milestone last week in a 63-56 Waxahachie victory over Midlothian. The girls basketball coach described the moment to The Ennis News as “awesome, better than I thought it would be.” She said it was the reaction by her players and the fans that made it an emotional occasion. “It was like everyone went berserk,” she recalled. “Then the players brought flowers and a real nice 500 sign with the Waxahachie arrow going through it.” Priebe (pree’bee) played hoops at South Garland and then at UT-Arlington. As a 5’10 two-guard who earned numerous awards, the highest being All-Region with the UTA Mavericks. After studying physical education and English, she began to both teach and coach.
