Williams, Gillespie sign with SAGU

Tori Williams and Adam Gillespie recently became teammates at SAGU after signing their letters of intent. Southwestern Assemblies of God University added a second former Ennis football player to their team when Adam Gillespie joined Tori Williams, who suited up for the Lions last fall. SAGU finished 8-3 in 2017 and were ranked No. 19 in the final NAIA Division I poll. Coached by Frank Tristan, the team went 7-1 in the Central States, falling only to No. 13 Langston, 14-10. They also earned a bid to play in the Victory Bowl in Kentucky, where they were on the wrong end of a 41-28 decision to No. 20 Campbellsville University. SAGU led at intermission, 21-19. The Lions had one of the nation’s most prolific offenses under new Offensive Coordinator Sam Harrell, the former Ennis head coach. Another former Ennis standout, Kyle Guinyard, is the receivers coach. Recently three other Ennis players made a visit to the campus, though decisions were not made at the time.
