DPS investigating trooper involved shooting

DALLAS – Officials are investigating a Dallas shooting on Tuesday that involved Department of Public Safety Special Agents. Authorities say the DPS agents were working a case at an apartment complex in the 9800 block of Adleta Boulevard when their vehicle was blocked in by a white SUV. According to the preliminary investigation, a man exited the vehicle with a handgun and approached the agents’ vehicle. In fear for their lives, the agents fired their weapons, striking the armed suspect. A witness told KRLD’s L.P. Phillips that she saw the entire scene unfold. “Four (people) got out of a Durango. There was like three (people) in an SUV and a bunch of other marked police cars pulling up and getting out with their guns. All of them were armed,” Lakeisha Cass says. A handgun was recovered from the suspect at the scene and two additional people in the SUV were taken into custody. The suspect was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition. The Texas Rangers are heading up the investigation. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
