WFAA anchor John McCaa announces he’ll retire


After 42-and-a-half years in television news — seven-and-half-years at WOWT-TV in Omaha, and nearly 35 here at WFAA – I intend to retire in March of 2019. Am I ready? In some ways yes, in some ways no. Management has graciously asked me to stay longer; I’ve politely declined. It’s not easy to step away from a business in which you’ve worked two-thirds of your life, and loved even longer. However, I’ve always accepted it as true that God gave me the opportunities I’ve had in this field — and no one could keep them from me — but that when God decided it was time for me to quit, there would be nothing I could do to successfully continue in this profession.
