A hero’s welcome to John Cuellar

Almost one year ago, John Cuellar, just turned 8, found out he had T-cell leukemia. Fortunately, the cancer was treatable, but the fight would take its toll on John and his family as they turned their attention to fighting back and winning. Due of the treatment program, John had to be home-schooled. Monday, 50 weeks later, he returned to a hero’s welcome at William B. Travis Elementary in Ennis. His cancer is in remission and he was well enough to be back in school and with his classmates. Travis went all-out to welcome him back to school. The electronic sign outside read, “Welcome back John C.” Students were allowed to wear their favorite super-hero t-shirt in honor of John’s return. It was a long fight and the students, teachers and the principal all helped him during his treatment. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
