As rain falls, burn ban OK’d

The Ellis County Commissioners agreed to continue a burn ban despite heavy rains on Monday.

Despite rainstorms that spanned much of the county Monday, the Ellis County Commissioners Court decided a burn ban was still necessary.

In addition to Fire Marshal’s Investigator Jim Pharr, Ennis Fire Chief David Hopkins also addressed the court in favor of the ban.

“I’m here in support of the burn ban,” Hopkins said. “I’m very concerned about how long this drought is going to last.”
