An Ennis movie theater in 1933, the middle of the Great Depression, announced that “checks, IOU’s, or any other acceptable thing of value would be taken for the price of admission.” A farmer from Telico took the business up on its offer and presented a hen that hadn’t sold in his deliveries that day.
