Johnny "JJ" Joe Laznovsky, Jr.

Johnny “JJ” Joe Laznovsky Jr., of Kerens, Texas, left the loving embrace of his beloved wife and children on June 15th, 2023, after a valiant three-year battle with stage four lung cancer at age 52. JJ was born at U.S. Kenner Army Hospital in Fort Lee, Virginia, to Johnny Joe Laznovsky Sr. and Dianne Marie (Barak) Laznovsky. He was raised in and around Ennis, Texas, where he graduated from St. Johns High School in 1989. He was owner and operator of J.J.L. Construction for almost 20 years and finished out his career as a ranch foreman at Fortson Farm in Rice, Texas.

On October 17, 1992, JJ stood before the Lord with his soulmate, Christy Dawn Tobias, as each professed their love and commitment to one another. This past year they celebrated 30 beautiful years together. They settled down on his family farm in Ennis, Texas. Building their first home and living there for 20 years where they raised their two children, Dakota Ryan of Ennis, Texas, and Delaney Elise Laznovsky, of Streetman, Texas. In 2017, he moved from his family farm to Kerens, Texas, where he built his second home, so as to enjoy the short walk to his “forever deer stand” and the beautiful wooded views from their front porch. JJ had a great love for cookouts, playing corn hole with his custom boards, crappie fishing, collecting old fishing lures, listening to classic country music as he worked in his shop, and a healthy competition with his wife each deer season for the biggest buck. To date, Christy continues to hold this record.

JJ was an honorable man, who prided himself on his word, hard work, and love for his family, friends, and neighbors. He was a dedicated father who always took time to sit and listen to his children to give them advice to succeed in all things. He was never too busy to help anyone in need and no job was ever too big. Johnny was a master craftsman whose work could be admired in his home and the numerous projects that he tackled throughout the years.

JJ was a member of the North American Hunting Club, SOKOL, and the KJT. He attended St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church as a youth and proceeded on to be an active member of the Cowboy Church of Corsicana. JJ enjoyed fellowship at the men’s breakfast and building booths for fall festivals. JJ loved his Lord and savior Jesus Christ and lived his faith through example to his family, friends, and all those around him.

JJ is survived by his devoted wife, Christy Laznovsky; Son, Dakota Laznovsky; Daughter, Delaney Laznovsky; Mother, Dianne Barak of Ennis, Texas; Sister, Wendy Allen of Oklahoma; Sister, Sherri McCarty of Oklahoma; Brother, Joey and wife Brenda Laznovsky of Ennis, Texas; Brother, Josh and wife Christa Laznovsky of Mississippi; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.

JJ is preceded in death by his father Johnny Laznovsky Sr.; Beloved grandmother, Bessie Laznovsky; Grandfather, Edwin Laznovsky; and Uncle, Jero Fuller.

JJ was known for his strong work ethics, his honesty, Christian values, witty sense of humor, artistic creativity, generosity of heart, competitive nature, love of the Lord, and above all his enduring love for his family. He has set a fine example to all who knew and loved him.

Rejoice! We are not saying goodbye, but instead “see you later”.
