Lucia Mendiola

Lucia Mendiola, age 74, entered heaven to be with the Lord on March 27, 2024. She was born on March 25, 1950, in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico to Jose Guadalupe Villegas Garcia and Maria Salome Gonzales Sandoval. Lucia grew up in El Mastrando , Mpo Dolores Hidalgo. In 1970 she married the love of her life, Manuel Mendiola, with whom she shared 54 years of cherished companionship and two wonderful children – Manuel Mendiola Jr. and Eloisa Loza.

Growing up Lucia was a child that kept to herself. As she grew up and started her own family, she became the anchor and rock that her family could rely on. A humble woman, Lucia appreciated all things and delighted in spending time with her family. She was a homemaker, who loved to cook and be surrounded by those she loved and loved her. You could always catch her listening to all types of Mexican music but most of all, music from her favorite artist – Chuy Quintanilla.

A woman of great faith, she attended St. John Catholic Church in Ennis, Texas.

Her family will always remember her outspoken, strong-willed, funny and intelligent personality.

Lucia is survived by her husband Manuel Mendiola; her children Manuel Mendiola Jr and Eloisa Loza and her fiancé, Uriel Ortega; her granddaughters Alexsis Loza, Jaleesa Loza; her sisters Juana Ramirez Villegas Gonzalez and her husband Demetrio Ramirez, Severiana Villegas Gonzalez and her husband Pedro Torres and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Lucia in death are her parents Jose Guadalupe Villegas and Maria Salome Gonzalez; sister Lorenza Villegas Gonzalez and her brother Leon Villegas.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home.
