Paula Sue (Johns) Reynolds

Paula Sue (Johns) Reynolds passed away December 22, 2023. She was born September 18, 1938 to P.F. and Wilma (Roberts) Johns in Sherman, Texas. She graduated from Ennis High School in Ennis, Texas in 1957.

Paula met the love of her life, Ernest K. Reynolds, on a blind date to see Elvis Presley at the Cotton Bowl on October 11, 1956. They were married on September 4, 1957. Together they had three daughters who meant the world to them.

Paula was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas for over 25 years and previously of First Baptist Church, Italy, Texas where she was the organist for many years. She will always be remembered for putting others before herself. She was a faithful wife, mother, granny, and friend. She had a special gift of making each grandchild feel like they were the favorite. She was a wonderful cook and made many batches of her delicious fudge and brownies over the years.

One of Paula’s lifelong hobbies was traveling in their travel trailer to their favorite destinations-Galveston, Fredericksburg, the mountains of Colorado, and Nashville, where they enjoyed the Opry, the Ryman, and all things country music.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 52 years, Ernest; and her son-inlaw, Greg Pickard.

Paula is survived by her daughters, Laura (Donald) Gardner, Susie Pickard, and Leigh Anne (David) Engel. She loved being the best Granny to Brian (Hollie) Gardner, Olivia (J.D.) Mathison, Robin (Michael) Carpenter, Jake (Erin) Pickard, Jordan (Ashley) Engel, Avery (Hunter) Kerr, and Jaxon Engel; as well as great-grandchildren, Reagan, Ethan and Levi Gardner; Caroline, Wade, Cate and Claire Carpenter; Lucas and Nora Pickard; and Baby Kerr on the way. She is also survived by her sweetest companion, Miss Kitty.

Paula’s family would like to thank all of the caregivers that have done so much for her in Skilled Nursing at Crestview Retirement Community, all of her doctors from Texas A&M Health Science Center, and the caring people of Hospice Brazos Valley. Memorials may be made in Paula’s honor to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Paula was laid to rest next to her dear husband, Ernest, at Memorial Cemetery of College Station on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Please visit www. hillierfuneralhome.com to share deepest condolences and expressions of gratitude for Paula and a life well lived.
