Santiago Artemio Cornejo 'Papi Temo'

Santiago Artemio Cornejo, age 84, passed away on June 04, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1939, in a community called “Las Mesas” near Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico to his parents, Crescencia Alvarez Garcia and Santiago Cornejo Alaniz. Artemio got married to María Socorro in 1959 and were married for over 60 years.

Artemio was called “Papi Temo” by all his loved ones including his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather. His number one mission was to share the Word of God with all his family and friends. He was a hard-working man and did everything he could to provide the best to his family. One of his lifelong missions was to build a Sevenday Adventist Church in his hometown of Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico. When he started the church in Mexico, they didn’t have a place to meet so he along with the few members of the church would have worship service every Saturday under a shade of a couple of trees. Their dream was to one day have a building where they could worship and grow the church. Papi Temo worked hard to make his dream come true, he was able to raise funds and build a beautiful little church from scratch where now the church has a congregation of 20 members.

Artemio is survived by his loving children, Santiago Cornejo and wife Silvia, Alfonso Cornejo and wife Teresa, Lourdes Garduno and husband Rodolfo, Edith Cornejo, Raquel Cabrera and husband Herman, Artemio Cornejo and wife Itzia Vianey, Maribel Barragan and husband Jose, Rosalba Santiago and husband Anderson, Ricardo Ruben Cornejo and wife Elizabeth, Edgar Cornejo and wife Lupita and Antonio Cornejo and wife Guadalupe Citlali; 34 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren; sister, Lola; Arturo; Anita; Carmen; Tonya; Carlos “Dino”, and numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by her parents, wife, María Socorro Cornejo, two sisters, Edelmira, Victorina, Alberto y Jimmy and granddaughter, Izabella Marie.
