Willie Bob Kubin

Willie Bob Kubin, age 79, passed into his eternal rest on March 30, 2023 surrounded by his family. Willie was born in Ennis, Texas on October 21, 1943 to Frank J. and Bessie Vrla Kubin. Willie grew up in Ennis, and he graduated from St. John High School in 1961. After graduation he worked for Ennis Business Forms for two and a half years and for the U.S. Postal Service for over 40 years, retiring in 2004. On June 21, 1963 he married the love of his life, Sandra Eves.

Willie loved the farm life and tending to his cattle. He enjoyed gardening and going to dances with his wife; he enjoyed listening to country/western and Czech music. He also loved working on his farm with his two sons when they were young, and enjoyed watching them play Little League baseball and football when they were in high school. Later in life his favorite hobby was working cross-word puzzles. He was not happy if his Dallas Morning News failed to arrive and he could not work that day’s puzzle. He also loved his two dogs, Max and Trixie, and was asking about them even in his last days.

Willie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and brother. He was truly loved by his family and friends. Willie was a man of few words, but he felt deeply for his family and friends although he did not often express his feelings. There will be a vacant place in our hearts and at the family table on holidays.

Willie is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, two sons, David and wife, Loretta; Jeff and wife, Theresa; grandchildren: Kenneth Kubin, Cathy Doughty and husband, Thomas, Ashley and significant other, A. D. Hightower; one greatgrandchild, A. D. Hightower, Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Angeline Slovacek, and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many long-time friends.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents, bothers Frank W. Kubin, Joe R. Kubin, Leslie O. Kubin, and by sisters Bessie Varva, and Mildred Cepica.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, April 6 at 10:00 AM at J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Pallbearers: Ronnie Cromwell, Kenneth Kubin, Bobby Kubin, Thomas Slovacek, Robert Eves, and Jason Dal. Honorary pallbearers: Eric Wilson, Louis Vavra, and Harold Dal.
