Ward 1 residents, most of them living east of I-45, cast their votes almost equally between two local candidates, with Cathy Falkenbach edging Austin Estes by 23 votes. She will fill the office held since 2016 by Rowdy Pruitt, which expires in May of 2027.
Ennis Regional Medical Center became the first hospital in Ellis County to open an inpatient, 5-to-7 day medical detox, to help those who face chemical dependency, need detox, treatment, lapse or relapse.
And the beat goes on for the Ennis High School Marching “E” Band. They returned on Oct. 16 from Kincaide Stadium in South Dallas, where Director David Ingram led the 128-member band. Ennis finished ninth of twelve bands in the preliminary round, though they did not make it to the state finals.

The Ennis Garden Club has announced the 2024 Autumn Yards of the Season. The yards of the season are selected two times a year; Spring and Autumn. The yards, nominated by members of the Ennis Garden Club, are selected in each of the four EISD school districts.
