All five Big 5 volleyball teams have played roughly five or six weeks of matches, many of them in tournaments, and each have either begun their district season or are about to start. Letting up is not in HC Keith Howard’s lexicon. His Ennis Lions tennis team has not lost a district match in nearly 10 years, and they rolled over Waco University H.S. on Tuesday, 10-0. It was the fifth consecutive win for Team Maroon after two tough setbacks to start the year.

Now 5-2 overall and 3-0 in district action, Ennis plays host to Cleburne at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Ennis Tennis Center. Admission is free.

Rodriguez paces XC team to 4th place finish

Over hill and dale they hit the dusty trail against a field of 28 teams at Saturday’s 13th Annual Garey Horner Cross Country Invitational in South Dallas. Ennis was wellrepresented by both high school and junior high harriers at the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex.

HC Lonnie Redning was elated to see the effort by the young varsity girls team, who finished fourth with 112 points. Four of them bunched together and placed in the Top 25, led by sophomore Olivia Rodriguez, who finished 19th with a 22:12 clocking.
