Keep Ennis Beautiful (KEB) has started twin campaigns to jumpstart its work to enhance the local environment: Paint the Town and Love My Lawn.

If you haven’t considered knock out roses, you really should. Some people are wary of roses, thinking they are difficult to care for. Not so with all types. And it certainly isn’t true of the knock out variety.

Ennis State Bank, which also does business as Trinity Capital Bank of Texas, made the short list among the 12 top-performing community banks in North Texas. D CEO Magazine featured the honor in an August article recently published.

SCHOOLS

News of the recent 89 score, within one point of an “A” in the Texas Education Agency accountability rating which witnessed Ennis schools rise from a C to a B-plus, was predictably met with positive reception.

ARTS

Ennis Arts Commission presented a beautiful kaleidoscope sculpture as a donation to the Ennis Public Library on Aug. 8. Already installed, all residents and visitors are free to enjoy.

THEATRE

Local actress, author and lecturer Sandra Wakefield will perform the Biblical character “the woman at the well” at Tabernacle Baptist Church at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21.
