Ellis County and District Attorney Lindy Beaty announced that on March 11, 2026, Kelton Everett Evans, Jr., 30, of Grand Prairie, was convicted by a jury of Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1-B (Fentanyl) with Intent to Deliver. In addition, he was fined $75,000.

First Presbyterian Church invites the community to their Good Friday Free Organ Concert featuring Phillip Staggs on the Allen Pipe Organ. The concert will feature traditional hymns and be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the church, which is located at 210 N. McKinney Street in Ennis.

Two of the seven positions on the Ennis Independent School District (EISD) board will be up for election this spring on Saturday, May 2. Referred to as the Joint & Special Elections, the date is about seven weeks away.

Shopping locally has its benefits – for the owners it is huge, enabling them to keep their doors open in the endless fight for survival against chain stores, and taxes on the purchases remain in Ennis. Those funds subsidize city services.
