Texas Wesleyan Volleyball (25-8) fell behind 2-0 to Huston-Tillotson (26-6) with a 25-5 loss in Set 2, then rose from the canvas to win the next three in a thrilling,

On the strength of two second half interceptions, a goal line stand in the final minutes and an incredibly timed penalty, Ennis (11-1) hung on to edge Burleson Centennial (10-2), 17-13, at Lion Memorial Stadium on Friday night.

Ending the season with four straight defeats did little to take away from one of the best Ennis volleyball seasons in years. The maroon-clad netters were 19-11 before falling to Midlothian (26-18) and Joshua (26-17).

A season of challenges came to an end when Ferris dropped the last two games in a play-in match with Alvarado, 3-2, to miss out on the playoffs.

Ennis Boy Scouts at last week’s playoff game did the honors with the American flag while the Ennis H.S. Marching Band played the National Anthem. The troop is a regular at football home games.

A 7-3 start didn’t carry over into the league season as Palmer finished in a tie for fourth in the eight-team District 18-3A.

Looking ahead to the next round of the Class 5A playoffs, Ennis Athletic Director Don Drake released information concerning where the winner of Friday’s game between Ennis (10-1) and Centennial (10-1) will play next Friday, Nov. 29.
