New riders at Palmer, Red Oak, Italy, Burleson, Heritage

The first All-Star game in Major League Baseball was held on July 6, 1933, at Comiskey Park in Chicago. Since then, many a notable moment has marked the game known as the Midsummer Classic. This year’s game will be played on July 11 at TMobile Park, which is the home of the Seattle Mariners. The game is sure to feature its fair share of great plays, and fans can watch to see if any of those match up with these memorable moments from past MLB All-Star games.

One of the state’s most popular annual publications about the high school gridiron, Texas HS Football, recently listed the Top Programs in the state, by size. Interestingly, their list shows the won-lost records of teams in the two divisions of Class 5A, and to no surprise, the big names are up there. Teams who have won a state championship during the past six seasons get a bump in points.

Liberty Christian graduate, Daniel Greek, a 6’5, 225-lb quarterback, earned a scholarship at Mississippi State under then-head coach Mike Leach. Two years later Greek entered the transfer portal in December and landed at Tarleton State in Texas.

Former Ennis pitcher, Joseph Shaw, after several years with Double-A NY Mets affiliate Binghamton (NY), signed with Cleburne this season. At 6’5, 225, the righthander is one of 12 hurlers on the team’s 25man roster.
