Avalon took full advantage of a favorable Bi-District matchup in the playoffs on Thursday, April 27, when they skinned the Gholson Bobcats, 26-3. It was their second rout over the Waco high school this season. HC Malcolm Cole’s team whipped Gholson on Feb. 28 with a 20-10 verdict.

Three months of girls softball in Texas has ended for most teams, with only the Top 4 teams in each district qualifying for the state playoffs in each of the six classifications. Each matchup is either a best-of-three series or a single-game knockout, sometimes decided by a coin-toss between coaches. Winners advance to the next round, losers get a jump on summer.
