City Offices to Close, No Refuse Collection

The offices of the City of Ennis will be closed for the Independence Day Holiday on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Garbage collection routes will not be run on Thursday. The regular garbage collection schedule will resume and City offices will reopen on Friday, July 5, 2019.

NARFE to Hold Monthly Meeting

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), Chapter 1191, will hold its monthly meeting in Waxahachie at the Asian King Buffet, 507 N. Hwy 77, Suite 950, in the Northgate Shopping Center, across from Osuba Restaurant and Whataburger, on Tues., July 9, 2019, from 11 a.m until 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be Lee Calvert who will talk about the bee keeping business. NARFE Chapter 1191 has members from Ellis, Navarro and surrounding counties. Members, guests, and all who are part of our federal active and retired family are invited. Moncrief to Offer Mobile Mammograms

Moncrief is bringing its mobile clinic to Frank Kent Ennis and providing free mammograms for women without insurance and those who qualify on July 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Most major insurance plans are also accepted. The screening is for women ages 40 and older who haven’t had a mammogram in one year or more. To schedule your mammogram appointment, please call 800-405-7739 by July 8. Picnic With a Park Ranger

U.S. Army Corps at Bardwell Lake will host Picnic With a Park Ranger: Fish of Bardwell, on Saturday, July 20 at 12:30 p.m. at High View Park, 262 High View Park Rd., Ennis. Bring your lunch (and water) and come spend an hour with Park Ranger Stephanie at Bardwell Lake. Ranger Stephanie will talk about various parts of Bardwell, as well as general history and fun facts about creatures you can see at the lake.
