A year after her death from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident in downtown Ennis, Katie Daffan, author and journalist, was honored by member of the Ennis Writers Club with a special memorial service at Holy Redeemer Hall in 1952. Daffan, often affectionately called “Miss Katie,” was a co-founder of the group and served as its first president.
