Two years after becoming a national holiday, Ennis residents gathered at Rogers & Maise Park to celebrate Juneteenth on Wednesday morning.
Beginning with a parade along Martin Luther King Drive, a list of activities, including a cookout, were scheduled by Unity in the Community (UITC). The significance of the day recognizes the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States.
