Memorial Day ceremony set for 11 a.m.

Monday, May 27, Ennis will honor those who have given their lives in service with the United States military during the annual Memorial Day observance. The patriotic program, with Mayor Angie Juenemann presiding, begins at Veterans Memorial Park at 11 a.m. For the second straight year the Marine Corps League’s Firing Party will shoot a three round volley of seven M1 Garand rifles, all firing blanks. “It is the second year we will do it for this ceremony,” said Commandant Robert Bell. “It is highly impressive and is definitely worth witnessing. “This is the same military honor guard that recognizes deceased veterans with augmenting military funeral honors for all branches of the military,” he added.
