The following nugget of interest, which I mentioned in an earlier column, is relatedto bluebonnets. It has to do with the hamburger stand that Ellis County-born Rose Stivers operated for years in Dallas.

The first Bluebonnet Trails event was hosted by the Ennis Garden Club in 1952.

A column in the Grand Prairie Daily News in 1955 by that city’s Garden Club president Charmian Akins, refers to the bluebonnets in Ennis.
