City Hall announced the April hiring of Aissha Flores as its new Chief Communications Officer.

Four candidates for two school board positions participated in a forum on April 20 at Anthony Drive Baptist Church. Moderated by Matt Walker, the dialogue included friendly banter over seven questions and ended in 70-minutes.

Ennis High School Principal Nathan Moye has been named the new Superintendent of Blanket Independent School District. He became their lone finalist on April 2. Before an official offer can be tendered and a contract extended, a Texas state-mandated 21-day waiting period was initiated before Moye could sign, though he will remain at Ennis through April 30.

When new Ennis Mayor Lynda Isbell first announced her intention to campaign for the opening at mayor, a number of hopefuls tossed their hat in their ring for her vacant seat.

Ennis Independent School District has a sevenmember Board of Trustees, with two seats up for election on Saturday, May 2. Both Kelly McManus, of Place 1, and Place 2’s Tommy Aguilar have their terms ending this month, but only the latter is seeking reelection.

Nearing the end of his first year as Ennis ISD Superintendent, Dr. Greg Bradley, has been at work digging into the district’s education trends dating back to before Covid. Following the EISD’s grade of “C” in October, the new Head of Schools and a strategic plan for raising the bar for students and staff remains a top priority.
