I have never been to the famous Biltmore Estate and Gardens in Asheville but many friends have been there. Of course, I’ve read much about the history of the Vanderbilt family as well as their extraordinary North Carolina home.
The gardens are magnificent – acres of formal and informal gardens arranged by America’s pioneering landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted, whom I’ll discuss later.
