Rising numbers of locals testing positive with Covid-19 has prompted City of Ennis officials, who continually monitor the pandemic, to put significant preventative measures in place. The strategic plan is part of the current Stay Home-Stay Safe Executive Order, which is in effect through April 17.

Since the number of cases in Ennis continues to increase, City leadership is taking more aggressive steps to slow the spread and protect the health and safety of the community.

On Friday, April 3, the following 8 actions were underway and expected to be complete by day’s end.

Snow Cones and Shaved Ice – now designated as nonessential, will be closed.

Restaurants - Police will be visiting local restaurants along with someone from the Health Department. If there is an issue of non-compliance, a written warning will be issued.

Parks and Recreation Equipment - Park and fitness court equipment has been closed with caution tape and signage. Open spaces are available for outdoor activities so long as social distancing is observed.

Grocery Stores - Shopping is now restricted to one or two members per household only. Homebound families can call the Bluebonnet Call Center at 972-695-3524 for assistance shopping.

Real Estate Activities - Occupied dwellings can not be shown and open houses are prohibited. Unoccupied dwellings may be shown as long as social distancing is observed.

Worship Services - Worship has been added to the list of essential services per Gov. Greg Abbott’s order. In person services are not allowed in excess of 10 people and must continue social distancing of 6-feet.

City Commission Meetings - Commission meetings have been moved to the Bluebonnet Event Room at 108 W. Knox St. The larger area allows more room for social distancing. There is an audio/visual system that allows participation from the public via live streaming.

COVID-19 Hotline - Please email covid19hotline@ennistx.gov or call 972-872-8391 to report any questions, concerns or compliance issues.

The safety and wellbeing of the community of Ennis remains the top priority of local leadership. Consistent monitoring of the situation will allow for the release of information as it is received.
