Momentum for the start of the new school year will provide a big boost for students when the annual Give-A-Kid-A-Chance takes place on Saturday, Aug. 7. The faith-based initiative is from 8 a.m. until noon at Ennis High School.

GAKAC will serve the needs of 1,400 students. The back-to-school program helps families get ready for the start of the fall semester.

Benefactors will receive (at no cost); new backpacks, school supplies, a pair of Spirit shirts for school, age-appropriate books, hair-cut vouchers, family portraits, health screenings and just for fun โ€“ face paintings.

Breakfast is available from 8-10 a.m. and a sack lunch is available from 10-12 noon. The meals are also without charge and are prepared by sponsors and volunteers.

Betsy Segura is the new director of GAKAC. For further information call 972- 695-3524 or email bbcc@ennistx.gov.
