Breaking down the case demographics in Texas reveal that of the 6,422 who have tested positive, nearly one-third are white.

Texas Health and Human Services posted a piechart reflecting 31.7 percent, or roughly 2,000 are listed as white by the testing facility. Second, narrowly, are Hispanics at 29.5 percent at 1,900 people.

Blacks have contracted coronavirus at a rate 16.6 or 1,100 positive tests. Asians are fourth at 3.7 and 240 people altogether.

The percentages are skewed by the fact that 17.7 percent of those testing positive, or 1,100 were not checked for ethnicity.

In Ellis County the results are similar, though more whites, 36.9 pct., have had the virus, compared to 29.2 whose race was unknown or not listed. Hispanics outnumber Blacks, 18.5 pct to 13.7., with 1.5 pct shown as being of Asian decent.

National Demographics

The United States testing doesn’t get any clearer, which says plenty about the CDC accuracy when it comes to counting beans. According to the Center for Disease Control on May 1, the ethnicity was unlisted or unspecified in 60.5 percent of tests given.

When checked, 51.8 percent were White, 28.9 percent Black or African-American, 25.3 Hispanic/Latino, and 4.9 were Asian. Those considered multiple or other, made up another 13.5 pct.
