Ferris child dies in firearm accident

Following the accidental shooting death of a seven-year-old Ferris youngster due to access to a gun on Saturday, May 23, a suspect was arrested in a Ferris, where authorities say one young child gained access to a gun and fatally shot another child inside a home. Ferris Department of Public Safety (DPS) did confirm an arrest was made of Takievon Holmes.

Paxton thumps Cornyn in senator race

Ken Paxton crested on a momentous wave of late support to defeat incumbent John Cornyn on May 26 to convincingly unseat the four-term senator, 63.5 percent to 36.5. Ellis County agreed with statewide voters, tabbing Paxton in a 64.19 to 35.81 percent totals (8,937 to 4,985).
