Harold Wendell Nash

Harold Wendell Nash, 91, passed away peacefully in Ennis, Texas, on Sunday, March 7, 2021.

Harold was born in the Howard/Nash community on January 12, 1930, to H. W. & Ruth (Campbell) Nash. He grew up in the Ensign Road community and attended schools in Avalon, Central High and graduated from Ennis High School in 1947.

Harold married Eva Lee Harding of McGregor, Texas, on February 25, 1949. At that time they were both employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was drafted into the US Army and deployed to South Korea. Harold proudly served as a Sgt First Class in the Signal Corp from 1952 – 1954 in the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, he then resumed his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he worked as a Lineman, Installer/Repairman and retired as a Central Office Switchman in Ennis on September 24, 1987.

Throughout their 72 years of marriage they continued to live in Ennis, Texas. They were blessed with two children, Steven Wayne and Susan Darlene. Throughout his life, Harold was involved in various civic organizations. He enjoyed gardening and had a passion for raising and caring for horses, sheep and many different varieties of birds. Harold was a member of the Anthony Drive Baptist Church.

Harold is survived by his wife, Eva Lee; son, Steve and wife Nancy; daughter, Susan and husband Ronnie Zmolek. He also leaves behind a grandson, Shane Nash and wife Tanya; granddaughter, Chasati Koscielniak and husband John; great grandsons: Aarron and wife Meagan Brasher, Jonathon Koscielniak and Stetson Nash; great granddaughters: Bryonna and Skyler Koscielniak. He is also survived by a very special sister-in-law, Marie Nash.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby Nash and sisters, Dorothy Whitley and Janice Paschal.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 9 a.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis.

Funeral was held on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Matt Walker of Anthony Drive Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. His grandchildren and great grandchildren served as Pallbearers.
