Ellis County commissioners met on Tuesday and discussed and approved their proposed property tax rate. The group approved the new fiscal year budget on Sept. 1.
Judge John Wray explained the tax rate for 2025 was 0.273992, and the proposed rate for 2026 was the exact same at 0.273997. However, the rate officially approved by commissioners on Sept. 8 is lower - 0.273500 per $100 value.
