On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, our sweet mother passed away at the age of 88.

Agnes was born in Ennis, Texas, on October 11, 1932, to Joseph and Agnes Marusak. The second oldest daughter of 13 children, mom grew up in Ennis where she attended St. Johns Catholic school and later graduated from St. Paul’s Hospital School of Nursing in Dallas. In 1954, mom began her marriage of 54 years to her true love, Edward Prachyl from Garrett, Texas, and they settled down and raised a family of five children in Dallas and since 1974 in Richardson, Texas.

Agnes spent her life surrounded by love and was a lifelong caregiver. She was blessed to be a part of a large extended Czech family where she touched the hearts of many and enjoyed the holidays cooking big family meals, singing beautiful harmonies, and sharing stories along with her loving family. As a devoted daughter, she cared lovingly for her parents while raising her five children, being active in her church, and having an extended career as a registered nurse in Richardson.

Our mother had many passions and loved sewing, gardening, spending time at the lake, caring for her grandchildren, and touring Texas as a member of the Texas Czech Folk Singers. She never turned down a quick trip to Choctaw where she had an envious amount of success and couldn’t resist the urge to find a good deal at a neighborhood garage sale. As a devoted Catholic, mom attended mass daily, ironed linens for the church, made many lasting friendships and sang in the choir. Mom, you touched many hearts and will be fondly missed. Enjoy the rewards you dearly deserve in Heaven.

Agnes is preceded in death by her husband Edward and her oldest daughter Sandra Kay Falk and survived by her remaining children Paul Edward Prachyl, Steven Joseph Prachyl, and daughters Lori Ann Garrett and Lisa Marie Lake as well as her seven grandchildren Harrison Prachyl, Niels Falk, Jack and Jason Garrett, and Killian, Molly, and Piper Lake.

A special thank you to those who cared for our mom in her final days at the Monarch of Richardson Memory Care Unit. You provided wonderful care in her time of need and touched our hearts.
