Bennie Welch

Bennie Welch, 96, of Telico, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

Bennie was born in Alvin, Texas, on April 23, 1924, to John and Kate (Chambers) Welch. He grew up in Alvin, Texas, and on April 10, 1944, he married his sweetheart, Lois Doughit, and they made their home in Dallas.

Bennie served his country proudly in the United States Army.

Bennie was a supervisor for Welch Construction for over 35 years. He was a member of the VFW and Sokol for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding horses.

Bennie is survived by his daughters: Deborah Davis and Dorothy Smith; grandchildren: Michelle Eggleston and Bennie Smith; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of extended family and friends.

Bennie is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Welch, his parents John and Kate Welch; 16 brothers and sisters including Jake Welch, Don Welch, Marvin Welch, Sam Welch and Tommy Welch. Bennie was the last surviving sibling of seventeen.

Visitation was held on Friday, February 5, 2021, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of his life was held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the Cowboy Church of Ennis. Pallbearers were Cooper Welch, Ronnie Welch, Randy Welch Jared Oates, Gary Leek and Randy McCollin. Honorary pallbearers were Barrett Welch and Beau Rudd. Interment followed in Telico Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
