Betty Gilmore Hart

Betty Gilmore Hart, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in Ennis, Texas.

Betty was born in Ennis, Texas, on July 23, 1929, to Samuel Loice and Carnie B. (Owens) Gilmore. Betty grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School. On July 23, 1945, Betty married the love of her life Billy Jack Hart, and they made their home in Ennis.

Betty helped at Hart Plumbing with her husband. Betty was a member of the Church of Christ and Rebecca Lodge of Ennis. Family and friends were the joy of Betty’s life. Betty formed special connections with all the young people who were her family and friends, she had special bonds with each one. Five generations of children, grandchildren, great-grand-children and great-great-grandchildren were served, loved and raised by her as a second mom and grandmother.

Betty is survived by daughters: Carolyn Brewer and husband, Donald, and Teresa Reeves and husband, Robin; grandchildren: Lezlie and husband, Brett, Paul and wife, Lecia, Rhett and wife, Mary and Brock and wife, Maggie; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy Jack Hart on February 23, 2014, and a brother, Loice.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life was held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Scott Brazil officiating. Interment followed in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

In lieu of flowers the family requests you make donations to the Church of Christ on Country Club Road or the MSA Collation.
