Carol (Callie) Johnson Heine earned her angel wings and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, with her husband by her side, on Monday, July 4, 2022, in Waco, Texas.

Carol was born September 22, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Henry and Melva (Stout) Johnson. She was their only child and their whole world revolved around her and later her own girls.

Carol (aka Callie, nicknamed by her mother) grew up in Sanderson, Texas. She graduated from Sanderson High School in 1967. She went on to receive her teaching degree from Sul Ross University, in Alpine, Texas.

Carol became a teacher and taught elementary school for many years and later transitioned into specialized reading program to teach the little ones that struggled with learning disabilities, as well as teaching a few of her grandkids to read before they started kindergarten.

Carol married the love of her life, Don Heine, on October 26, 1986. They had a marriage of so much happiness and loved each other with all their hearts til her last breath.

Carol enjoyed painting in earlier years and had just recently pulled out the brushes again to start back up. She also enjoyed watching her grandkids sports, taking trips with her daughters and grandkids, the weekly card games and occasional casino trips with very special life long friends and frequent trips to see to the “farm” to see other close friends, and most of all any time she got to spend with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and all of her family.

Carol leaves behind her loving husband of 38 years, Don Heine. Daughters, Kimberly Nash and husband Jim Nash, and Kristy Prachyl. Grandkids, Kristopher Lewis and wife Kalyn, Kayla Prachyl and Kolt Prachyl, Jordan Wilson, Zachary Wilson and wife Katlyn, Cameran Candanoza and husband Ethan, Charlie Lynn Prachyl, Landynn Prachyl as well as a special bonus grandson she had for many years Justin Prachyl. Great grandkids Levi, Garrett and Mollie Lewis, and Maverick Candanoza. Very special cousins, Pat and Laura Johnson, Donald Strube and Garry and Terri Hohmann and many more friends and relatives, and her furry kids, Lady, Brat and Nuisance and grand dog Ruffles (which we are fairly certain she loved them as much as all her kids)!

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and very special cousin Teadoe Strube.

Per Carol’s wishes, a formal funeral will not be held. She always wanted to spare her family of more grief than necessary. Her ashes will be taken back to West Texas (south of the Pecos River) and spread in her favorite places by her family at a later date.

We know she made her way to Heaven and was overly joyed to get to meet her Lord and Savior as well as reunite with our Meme, Pawpaw and Aunt Teadoe as well as several more she’s been missing. We know she is smiling down and watching over us all with a giant endless glass of UNSWEET tea!

In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
