Charles O. Williams

Charles O. Williams, of Ennis and Rockport, Texas, passed away on Aug. 18, 2019, at the age of 92. He was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Jo Ann; son, Barry and daughter, Claudia. Charlie was born in Barry, Texas, July 3, 1927, to Claude and Flossie Williams.

After graduating from Barry High School, Charlie joined the Merchant Marines. After his service was complete, he enrolled in Sam Houston State receiving his teaching degree. Charlie was a true Fisher of Men. He had a passion for evangelizing the saving grace of Jesus to everyone he met. Charlie had a fire for Jesus that was never extinguished. He taught a men’s Sunday School class for years and was a deacon at Tabernacle Baptist Church. After moving to Rockport, Charlie joined the First Baptist Church of Rockport where he was surrounded by many friends who loved him. Charlie was the owner of a successful concrete company and over the years he mentored many employees to future success in the industry. If you truly knew Charlie, you knew he loved to be on the water casting for crappie, reds and trout. He fished six days a week and went to church every Sunday.

To his many friends, thank you for watching over Charlie for 92 great years. He loved you!

He is survived by his son, Rick, and wife Cindi; son, Mike; grandchildren: Barry, Jr., Zach, Jaclyn, Braz, Mica and Scott; great grandchildren: Gavin, Charleigh, Stratton, Statham and Sloane.

A memorial service will be held Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Rockport under the direction of Charlie Marshall Funeral Home and Crematory. Graveside service will be Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.
