Corky Porter, 71, went home to be with her Jesus on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 in Dallas, Texas.

Corky was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 23, 1947 to Ernest Eugene and Montine (Matthews) Mashburn. Corky grew up living all over the United States traveling with her parents with her father’s job. Corky graduated from Carlise High School in 1965 and went on to attend Arkansas State University. On May 31, 1968 she married the love of her life Tom Porter. Tom and Corky lived in several different cities during their married life including Bentonville, AR, Clarksville, AR, Louisville, KY, Tishomingo, OK, Clarksville, TX and settled in Ennis in 1984.

Corky worked for Bank of America in Dallas and Ennis for over twenty years in Loans and for Ennis State Bank for over eight years as a Teller. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis and the Ennis Garden Club. Corky enjoyed reading, crochet, cross stitch, sewing. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved spending time with family.

Corky is survived by her husband of over fifty-one years, Tom Porter; daughters: Becky Moore and husband, Aaron and Cathy Porter; grandchildren: Alex, Caleb and Michael along with a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis with Rev. Dr. John Blewitt officiating. Pallbearers will be Aaron Moore, Alex Moore, Caleb Moore, Michael Moore, Jimmy Swindell and John Casper. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

In lieu of flowers the family requests you consider a donation in Corky’s name to either the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis, the Ellis County SPCA or to the American Cancer Society.
