Douglas Dickinson, 85, passed away in Palmer, Texas, on Thursday, December 30, 2021.

Douglas was born on September 5, 1936, in Dallas, Texas.

Douglas married Betty Tuttle on April 21, 1962. Douglas served his country in the Army National Guard for three years. Douglas was a member of the Oak Cliff Lions Club, Oak Cliff Optimist Club, Oak Cliff YMCA Board member, Palmer Lions Club, was a Reserve deputy for the Ellis County Sheriff Department and served with the Garrett Police Department. He became well known as “The Bluebonnet Man” as his front 40 acres were lush with flowers, Doug would meet and greet visitors. On one year he had over 5,000 visitors from everywhere and there were lots of pictures taken and newspaper articles written about him as well as local newscast.

Douglas is survived by a son, Drew Dickinson and wife, Brandee; a daughter, Delisa Lapinsky; three grandchildren: Michelle Lapinsky, Riley Dickinson, and Kyle Dickinson.

Douglas is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Dickinson.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary in Palmer.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Palmer. Interment will follow in Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
