Estelle Sanders Vance passed peacefully from this world into the next on Monday, March 22, 2021, at Bluebonnet Rehab in Ennis. She was 99 years of age.

Estelle was born November 19, 1921, in Gordonville, Texas, the daughter of John and Martha (Shires) Sanders. She was born and raised on a farm during the Great Depression and felt called upon by her country to serve as a defense worker as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II at North American in Grand Prairie. She married Berton Lee Vance in 1949 and worked many years for the public at Sears and Walmart. She finally retired at the age of 92 years. Estelle was a member of the First Christian Church and belonged to the Rebekah Lodge.

She leaves behind her beloved family: son, Thomas, and his wife Shanda; granddaughters: Shanna Reeves and Christina Jesttes; great granddaughters: Kayleigh Truly, Shaelynn Reeves and Aletha Reeves; grandsons: Michael Vance and Stephen Vance and great granddaughter, Jennifer Vance and great grandsons: Josh Vance and Hunter Reeves.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Berton Vance; daughter, Aletha Jesttes; sons, Edward and David Vance, as well as her sisters: Faye Gargus, Alpha Short, Hazel Milliken and Opal Crain, and brothers: Freeman Sanders and John Thomas Sanders, Jr. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends was held on Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 26, 2021, at 2 p.m., also at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis. Burial was held at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Bluebonnet Rehab in Ennis.
