Frederick Arthur Shine, III

Frederick Arthur Shine, III, 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Ennis, Texas, where he and his late wife Daurice Cody Shine had made their home since 2010.

Fred was born in Dallas on August 21, 1940, to Frederick Arthur Shine, Jr., and Ruth Eloise Rogers. He was raised in Oak Cliff, where he graduated from Sunset High School in 1958. After high school he attended Texas A&M University and Arlington State University. In 1963 he went to work for Fleming & Sons (later RockTenn) Paper Mill in Oak Cliff, working as a powerhouse operator until retiring in 2005.

In 1961, Fred married Pennie Louise Watson and to this union were born two children, Lisa Kaye Shine and James Randall Shine. He and Daurice married in 1993 and realized their dream of living the rural life in Ellis County following retirement.

A classic shade-tree mechanic, he was a car aficionado with an encyclopedic knowledge of Americanbuilt automobiles. He also was an avid motor sports fan and built stock racing cars he ran on various tracks around north Texas.

Preceded in death by his parents and youngest granddaughter, Brittany Danielle Burford, Fred is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Charles Klepper, of Waxahachie, TX (previously Shreveport, LA); son and daughter-in-law Randy and Elaine Shine of Oak Leaf, TX; grandson Damian Burford (Claire) of Napa, CA; granddaughter Ryan Alexandria Waldrip (William) of Gulf Breeze, FL; grandson Benjamin Burford (Jennifer) of Ft Meyers, FL; granddaughter Emily L. Klepper of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughter Rebecca James (Josh) of Waxahachie, TX; and 5 great-grandchildren: Liam and Chloe Waldrip, Devon James, and Oscar and Julia Harms. Also surviving are his sister Karen McColgan of Conyers, GA; and a cousin Beverly Amick (Mel) of San Antonio, TX, and their children Laura Epps and Ross Amick.

Private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) or the charity of your choice.
