Jo Ann Dolezalik

Jo Ann Dolezalik, age 81, passed away on July 6, 2020. She was born in Ennis on March 21, 1939 to Anton and Effie (Pekar) Jurica. She graduated from Saint John High School in 1957, worked her first job at Sears Roebuck in Dallas, and later worked at Tom’s Food Market. Jo Ann married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Louis A. Dolezalik, on October 12, 1957 and they shared 62 wonderful years together.

She liked spending time with family, especially the grandkids, dancing and listening to polka music and Lonnie Dean and his band, going to casinos, vacationing at the beach with Louis and their children, and trips to New Mexico and Colorado. Her hobbies included antique hunting, collecting stamps and Depression glass, and beer memorabilia and steins. Jo Ann and Louis also enjoyed visiting other Czech communities while working on family genealogy.

Jo Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory: husband Louis, and four children, Michael Dolezalik and wife Janice, Greg Dolezalik and wife Janna, Patricia Ozymy and husband Bryan, Patrick L. Dolezalik and partner Jessica K. Maynard, and daughters-in-law, Anna Dolezalik and Peggy Dolezalik; 13 grandchildren, Stephen R. Dolezalik II (Nicole Rauchman), Nick and Eric Dolezalik, Katelyn Tenholder and husband Charles, Holly and Aubrey Dolezalik, Erica Ozymy Watson and her husband Colten, Danielle, Ryan, Matthew, Jake and Zachary Ozymy, and Noah Dolezalik; 3 great grandchildren, Dillon Dolezalik, Paisley Giesher and Penny Dolezalik; brothers, Tony Jurica, and Raymond Jurica and wife Barbara; sister, Genevieve Dorton and husband Marvin; sister-in-law, Dorothy Williams; brother-in-law, Joe Dolezalik and wife, Cindy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Effie Jurica, two sons, Stephen Ray Dolezalik and Duane Dolezalik, sister-in-law, JoAnn Jurica, and brother-in-law, Larry Williams.

There was a visitation from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., for family and friends, with the Rosary recited at 9 a.m., on Friday, July10, 2020, at Boze Mitchell McKibbin funeral home in Ennis.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., on Friday, July 10, 2020, at Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment followed at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ennis.

To protect against the spread of COVID-19, the family asks that masks be worn and social distancing rules followed. Memorials may be made to Saint John Church, Novenas, the Layman’s Cemetery trust, Catholic Daughters, Saint John Altar Society, or Saint John Alumni Association.
