JoAnn Mathis

JoAnn Mathis, 86, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 in McKinney, Texas.

JoAnn was born in Ennis, Texas on May 27, 1933 to Luther David and Chassie (Waddle) White. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1951. JoAnn went on to graduated from Navarro College with and Associates Degree in Accounting. JoAnn was a lifelong resident of Ennis.

JoAnn worked for Ennis Business Forms for over forty-five years in the Accounting Department. She was a lifetime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she worked cooking meals for over twenty-three years. JoAnn’s family was the light of her life and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, dominoes and cooking.

JoAnn is survived by her son, Blane Mathis and wife, Linda; grandchildren: Brandon and wife, Gabrielle, Aaron and wife, Abby and Taylor; great grandchild, Archer and a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Shawn Mathis, brothers: Luke, Billy, Ikey and Allen and sisters: Jeanie Lou Breaux, Helen Venable, Vivian Myers, Virginia Pratt and Louise White.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Pastor Dave Jobe officiating. Pallbearers will be Brandon Mathis, Aaron Mathis, Evan Surber, Mark Ely, Louis Zabojnik and Joe Venable. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
