Joe Frank Betik

Joe Frank Betik, age 85, passed away on Jan. 11, 2020, in Ennis, Texas at Bluebonnet Rehab. He was born on June 5, 1934 in Ennis, Texas, the fifth of ten children to Joe and Frances Marusak Betik. He attended Creechville Elementary schools and graduated from St. John Catholic High School in 1952.

In his early years, he was a carpenter by trade, employed by Chance-Vaught in Grand Prairie for several years. He also worked as a pressman at Ennis Business Forms and retired after a long-time career. He was also a cattleman and farmer in Bardwell.

He was a life member of St. John’s Catholic Church and a life member of KJT where he served as Vice-President. He spoke the Czech Moravian language fluently and loved the culture, food, and music.

Joe became a resident of Bluebonnet Rehab in 2014.

He is survived by the following: Five children and spouses: Alan, Stan and Patricia Zabojnik, Michael and Julie, Richard and Deana, and Thomas and Deanna. 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two brothers: Wesley and Vera, Bob and Barbara, sister-in-law Nancy Betik. Three sisters: Mary and Jerry Trojacek, Ella and Bill Heard, and Evelyn Slovak. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Frances Betik, sisters Lillie Crowley, Helene Barrett, and Mildred Trojacek, and brother Bernard(Yogi).

Pall bearers: Brian Betik, Paul Betik, John Michael Betik, Ty Zabojnik, John Castillo, and Danny Zapletal.

Rosary was recited on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at 8:15 a.m., with visitation following from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home, 800 S. Kaufman St., Ennis, Texas 75119. A Mass of Christian Burial was follow at St. John’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. There will be no cemetery service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. John’s Catholic Church or St. Joseph’s Cemetery or any charity of your choice.
