John W. Slovacek, 79, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, August 9, 2019.

John was born in Ennis, Texas on September 29, 1939 to Louis and Frances (Belha) Slovacek. John grew up in Ennis and attended St. John Catholic School. On June 22, 1963 he married the love of his life Anna Dobecka and they made their home in Ennis. John served his country proudly in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater.

John was a Master Electrician and worked for Alford Refrigeration, Texas Instruments and owned J & A Electric from 1970 until 1985 when he retired. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church; he was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the VFW and a Fifty year member of KJT. John enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, collecting guns, deep sea fishing and above all spending time with family.

John is survived by the loving wife of over fifty-six years, Anna Slovacek; sons: Phillip Slovacek and Timothy Slovacek and wife, Stacey; daughter, Julie Slovacek-Peterson and husband, Scott; grandchildren: Kaley Almanza, Ashley Slovacek, James Peterson, Sarayna Peterson and London Peterson; great-grandchildren: Dylan Almanza, Mia Almanza and Rowen Peterson; brother, Al Slovacek; sisters: Margie Kozlovsky and Mary Foitek along with a host of extended family and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents; Louis and Frances Slovacek, brothers: Joe Slovacek and Louis Slovacek and sisters, Georgie Kozlovsky and Emily Marusek.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial was held Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
