Jon Paul Flynt, 84, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.

Jon Paul was born in Avalon, Texas, on December 16, 1935, to Harold L. and Clemmie (Gillespie) Flynt. Jon Paul grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1954. He married Barbara Horne in 1954 and after her death he married Mary Ann Brown in 1992. Jon and Barbara lived in Arkansas after their marriage before settling in Ennis.

Jon Paul was a long haul truck driver for most of his working career hauling heavy equipment all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. He worked with his brothers as a co-owner of Weaver Spring and Brake. He was a member of the Cowboy Church of Ennis and the Masonic Lodge. Jon Paul’s family was his pride and joy and each of them held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed deer hunting, gospel music and fishing.

Jon Paul is survived by sons: Jon Stephen Flynt and wife, Kathy and Stacey Paul Flynt; daughter, Jennifer and husband, David Dixon; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wives: Barbara and Mary Ann; brothers: Don and Edwin; son, David Flynt and granddaughter, Stephany Flynt.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19, 2020, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of his life was held on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the Cowboy Church of Ennis with Rev. Michael Howard officiating. Pallbearers will be Robbie Flynt, Brent Vrla, Larry Beerer, Jim Brigdon, Mark Richardson and Brian Dixon. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Rice, Barry Horne and Robert Flynt. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
