Larry Blake Poarch

Larry Blake Poarch, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 9, 2020.

Larry was born in Sardis, Texas on December 15, 1940 to Aubrey Blake and Doris Mae (Marshall) Poarch. Larry graduated from Bardwell High School in 1958. On July 16, 1960 he married his sweetheart and helpmate Patricia Ann Smith.

Larry worked in the Insurance field for many years, farmed and served as a pastor. He was the pastor for many years of the Calvary Baptist Church of Ennis. He enjoyed all sports especially basketball. Larry’s family was the light of his life and they all held a special place in his heart.

Larry is survived by his wife of almost sixty years, Patricia Poarch; daughters: Phyllis Matous and husband, Joseph; Lisa Easton and husband, Paul and Jennifer Watson and husband, Dennis; son, Andrew Scott Poarch and wife, Chaney; twenty-one grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Janis Mahone and husband, Earl; sister-in-law, Gudrun Poarch and a host of extended family and friends.

Larry goes home to meet his parents, Aubrey and Doris Poarch, sister, Caryl Strunc and brother, James Poarch.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis

A Celebration of his life will be held Monday, January 13, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with Rev. James Patterson officiating. Pallbearers will be Derek Matous, Roy Glaspy, Eric Hughes, Christopher Perry, Johnny Kazee and Andrew Eagleson. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Frank, Justin Watson, Garrett Easton, Grant Easton, James Hughes, Miguel Garcia and Meliton Castillo, Jr. Interment will follow in the Elm Branch Cemetery of Bardwell under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

The family would like to thank all those who have helped them through Larry’s final journey to Heaven including Traditions Hospice and Visiting Angels.
