Norman William "Bill" Krieger, Jr.

Norman William “Bill” Krieger, Jr., age 79, passed away on October 30, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He died peacefully at VA Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa, on January 14, 1943, to Marena (McDonnell) Krieger and Norman W. Krieger. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Ft. Madison High School in 1961. He attended Community College in Burlington, Iowa, El Centro Jr. College and UTA. In 1965 he joined the US Army. While proudly serving in Vietnam, he began a correspondence with the sister- in-law of his childhood friend, Michael Kramer. He and his “pen pal” Marcy Marusak married on July 6, 1968, at St. John Church in Ennis. From this union were born two children, Kristine Lynn and Brian David. The family lived in Dallas and Mesquite until 1978, at which time they built their home in Bristol. Bill spent many hours there tending his bees, cattle and his huge garden. He opened his surveying business, N.W. Krieger, Jr. Surveyor, in December 1979. He formed many lifetime friendships with people in the real estate world. Bill tended cattle and baled hay at the Creechville farm of Marcy’s brother Alex. He loved spending hours on his tractor.

He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Church, KJT, KC and was a past president of St. John Parish Council, St. John Bazaar and Marusak Family Reunion. He proudly served as Eucharistic Minister at the 1987 Papal Mass celebrated by Pope St. John Paul II. A lifelong Democrat, he enjoyed political shows and voting. He was also a devoted fan of Law and Order.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marcy; daughter, Kristine Ostermann and husband, Thomas; son, Brian Krieger and wife, Charity; grandchildren: Emma and Samantha Ostermann, Brianna Krieger and husband, Caleb Taylor; Timothy and Joshua Krieger; sisters: Judy Biagiotti and husband, Paul, Pat Hefner and husband, Richard, Mary Whitfield and numerous Krieger and Marusak nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Alan, sisters, Nancy Krieger, Betty and Gary Cregar, brothers-in-law, Walt Whitfield and Jim Hays.

Bill loved his family, his Catholic faith, St. John School, high-school sports, gardening, farming, taking trips to Ft. Madison to visit the Krieger family and friends, and camping and fishing at Lake Texoma with the Marusak clan. He dressed as Santa for many Christmases to entertain his grandchildren. He and Marcy hosted numerous Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners in Bristol through the years. “Uncle Bill” was a great host, even though he never made it through a holiday without taking his nap in the den. He will be greatly missed.
